Beyond Learning Center is equipped to provide educational tools to individuals of all ages.
Community Hab provide persons with disabilities opportunities to acquire and maintain independence and life skills that help them become productive members of the community. There is a focus on skill development in the following areas: medical, cooking, nutrition/healthy lifestyle, money management/budgeting, community/ home safety, transportation, shopping, and community integration.
Day Habilitation provides opportunities to acquire and maintain independence and life skills that support individuals to be productive members of society.
The Educational Advocacy Department assists parents /families through the special education process and work with the family to help the student receive what he/she is entitled to under the law.
Advocacy services can be provided at any point from the initial steps to obtain services or at any time for a student currently receiving special education service. Our advocate review records, speak with the family, and attend the Special Education Committee (CSE) or 504 meetings.
They can assist families seeking evaluations and testing from local professionals outside of their school districts and when necessary, connect families with local law firms which deal with Special Education Law.
Employment Services focuses on individualized Job Skill, Vocational and Employment training in authentic situations that lead to competitive, or self-employment opportunities.
Learning at Central Library Day Hab is an uncertified group day habilitation program that meets at the Central Library in downtown Buffalo. Participants focus on individualized general educational development.
Starlight Studio & Art Gallery is a cooperative environment that supports adults with disabilities in their artistic development. Through technical assistance by professional artists, on-site and off-site exhibitions and other opportunities for representation and sales, the Starlight artists hone their artistic interests, become stronger advocates and better integrated citizens.
Starlight Studio at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (Day Hab WOW)
This day hab program is offered Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30-3:30.
Individuals will work with professional artists and use the museum as a learning lab. They will have art studio space for creating art as well.
ILEARN/ Supplemental Group Day Hab (SGDH) The ILEARN (Lead, Educate, Advocate, Respect, Navigate) program provides persons with disabilities are provided the opportunity to plan and attend a wide variety of activities in the community. During these events, there is a focus on socializing with peers, meeting new people and gaining a greater independence in the community. This program takes place Monday- Friday late afternoon/evenings and Saturdays.
